Good Lord it is Morning or do you say "Good Morning Lord"

Growing up in the Osage was and is a way of life but not often enough we sit out on the porch and watch and listen to what God has given us.  We worked hard down on Beaver Creek feeding cattle, chickens, hogs, and sheep.  Every day as we climbed out of bed before or close to daylight as children we would grumble a little but hurry up and brush our teeth and scurry out to the barns to get started.  But what I did not notice most of the time was that great good morning that God provided.  Virtually every day the sun came up or was it every day and sometimes I just could not see it?  Anyway the sun ups were magnificent and I challenge you to find a place where you can go and admire the morning sun ups.  I promise once you experience it you late morning folks will want to experience it again.  It is especially great in the Osage.

In the summer you will love it because the sky is so clear with a few wondering clouds but the air is warm but not too hot.  The animals don't get out as much in the summer during the day but during the night an early morning before it gets hot.  The coyotes move across the hill side howling back and forth across the meadows.

In the early mornings of fall there is a light chill and if you have a small camp fire and a warm coat the air will bring your senses to life.  The animals wake up one by one with first a single chirping then a response from a like bird.  Generally the first birds are whippoorwills then the meadowlarks and sometimes a bobwhite quail.  If you sit still you might hear a turkey with its first gobble of the day or the movement in the brush of a deer which suddenly appears right in front of you eating on the grass.

Winter, not to be confused with Wynter my daughter who is also refreshing in the morning, brings the freshest air and rabbits and squirrels leaving their marks in the snow.  Now most of you think of the footprints but they leave other notables as well which I will leave to your imagination.  Animals start getting out early looking for food and water plus as the sun comes up and your bones start to warm and your face feels the dry cool air you watch the smoke from your breath as you sit quietly waiting on the animals.  Winter is fabulous in the Osage.

Spring on the Osage brings a lot more movement in the mornings.  The animals are frisky (do I need to explain that?).  The red birds are chasing each other and the dear are pairing up.  The prairie chickens are drumming their mating calls.  In fact in early spring the flocks of turkeys begin to break apart just like the herds of deer and the mating season is on.  This is also the time (beginning in late winter) the cows start calving so you are watching and checking for cows that might need some extra helping in having their calf.  Quail and geese are moving in pairs rather than groups and the life cycle is fun to watch and the SUN comes up one more time everyday.  Don't miss it, it is fabulous.

No matter what life throws at you the sun comes up, the animals awaken and there are new beginnings everywhere.  It is like the movie Ground Hog Day where you get a chance to start anew and make a change in your attitude and your expectations for the better.

Now if you were me you would take a moment to thank God for a new beginning and for His consistency in that not only the sun comes up every morning but HIS SON is up for you every morning.

Thanks for your time,
